Hi stampers! Quick post tonight...I had a slight headache this morning and by the end of the work day it was a full blown migraine...one of the worst ones I've had in a while. Sooo, I got very little done tonight including the laundry and my workout which were two things at the top of my list and then of course I didn't do any stamping. And now I have to go sit out in the cold (and possibly rain and eeek even snow) at work tomorrow night!!! There's never enough time is there??? Anyway, enough whining...of course I'm feeling better now, when it's time for bed:-)
Anyway I thought I'd take a minute to share a cute little project with you. This is one of the things we made at my Spring Fever class and I think it's just adorable! It's super simple to make and just so cute! I think I'll make a bunch as little gifts for my family at Easter! It's a carrot made with the petal cone die! As a side note, is it strange that I love raw carrots but I really don't like them cooked??? And when I first got my glasses in first grade, I knew carrots were good for your eyes so I thought if I ate a ton of them I wouldn't need my glasses anymore...I'm really surprised I didn't turn orange...and it didn't work...my vision is around a -8 these days, yikes:-) Anyway, here is the little cutie:
Isn't it so cute!?!? And it went together like THAT! I'll try to do a video maybe! Now, I could have went all crazy detailed with it but I didn't want to overwhelm my stampers and sometimes less is more! (although I plan on playing around with it later and making a "fancier" carrot;-) And the cool part is that the die cuts out that little banner so you don't have to worry about making the perfect little "v" on the ends!
And this is the detail of the top. All I did was use my crop-a-dile to punch a couple of holes in two of the "petals" and thread an old olive satin ribbon through the top to close it. I'll probably fill these up with M&M's and it's going to hold a lot of them!!! I don't have any now because they never last at my house and never make it into the treats between me and the hubby...I'm going to put MOST of the blame on him *wink wink*. I tell ya, I never used to like chocolate AT ALL...and as I get older, I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! Anyway, I hope you like today's little treat! Now I gotta go find some chocolate.... ;-)
Happy stamping!

Sew obsessed....
Sew, I guess I seem to be obsessed with the sew suite stuff from the occasions mini catalog:-) I entered (and won, ohmygosh) an Inkspirations challenge a few weeks ago with a card made from the Sew Suite stuff and then I loved the sketch challenge over there this week...and guess what I used:-) But really, this sketch just SCREAMED sew suite to me!!!
Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps: Sew Suite, Pattern Pieces, So Happy for You (SAB)
Paper: So saffron, tangerine tango, wild wasabi, Sweet stitches
Ink: Stazon, so saffron, tangerine tango
Accessories: Glimmer brads (subtles, )dimensionals, pom pom trim
As most of my cards go, it didn't turn out exactly how I had pictured it in my head but I still like it! I think the background it a bit flat and I needed to add some more dimension to it somehow (maybe some more sponging and I should have done some actual sewing but it was too late to fiddle with my machine and get it all threaded and the bobbin to work right, haha) but I can usually find something I want to improve on all my cards...we are our own worst critics, right? And how have I been itching to cut up that pattern background stamp!!!! It took a while to do but I loved the results! I also love the colors of this suite, they are so funky and retro, which is usually not my style but I like how SU! comes up with stuff that works together so well...so I don't have to do all the work of figuring out what colors go...it's built in! My final touch was the glimmer brad which I think looks like the little grommet in the end of a measuring tape...I'm so clever (LOL, not really but it was a pretty good idea for lil old me!). Now, hop on over the the Inkspirations site while I go to the gym and then get ready for my stamping class today and have a go at the challenge for yourself...I dare ya! Happy stamping!

Multi-part-punches Video
Hi stampers! Here is the video I promised about our new multi-part punches. This video uses the blossom punch that I used in the daffodil card from yesterday but the method is the same for all of them like the cute owl punch and the awesome cupcake one! I hope this helps you see how to use the punches more efficiently! I thought they might be a pain but they've been fairly easy to use and make super cute projects! And I didn't realize until I was done filming that you can see my reflection when I turn the punch right side up...so just pretend you don't see me in my grubby old stamping sweatshirt:-) At least I had done my hair, lol!
Until next time...happy stamping!

Daffodil Delight
Hi stampers! I have a card for you that's doing double duty so to speak. First off, we'll be making it at my Spring Fever class on Saturday and I'm also entering it at the Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge that you can find HERE. It actually kind of looks similar to a card I entered over there a few weeks ago...but it's all I got for now as I haven't had much time to stamp this week and HAD to get these cards designed for the class (nothing like waiting until the last moment right?). Anyway, daffodils are one of my all time favorite flowers and a couple have even started blooming in our yard!!! Nevermind the fact that it was close to 80 degrees a few days ago and is now a nippy 32!!! I hope the flowers handle the cold snap ok! But here's one that won't wilt away:
Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps: Build-a-blossom, Easter Blossoms
Paper: So saffron, whisper white, daffodil delight
Ink: Daffodil delight
Accessories: Blossom punch, fun flowers die, daffodil delight taffeta ribbon, polka dot embossing folder, oval punch, scallop oval punch. basic pearls
Isn't it cute! I thought that the build a blossom punch would work good for the outer petals and then I took the smaller flower from the fun flower die to make the "cup" since I wanted something that would stand up! All I did was bend the petals up and pop on some pearls in all different sizes. Now, I know that a lot of daffodils are white with yellow cups but really there are all kinds and I like the yellow ones with white cups the best:-) I kept the rest of the card simple since all of my class participants will be new-bies:-) If I get time, I'll try to post a video about how to best use the blossom punch as it can be a bit tricky! Hope you like it! Happy stamping!

Easter Wishes
Hi stampers! Sorry it's been a few days but I had a busy long weekend (which of course wasn't long enough...that always happens doesn't it?) and then I haven't been feeling very well and then work is very busy for me this week so all that adds up to very little stamping!!!! Quick bit of chit chat first though! On Friday I took the day off an then went with my BFF and her sis to see Sugarland and it was AWESOME! We had terrific seats and didn't know that Little Big Town was opening so that was fun! The show was so much fun and we danced almost the whole time (my poor feet hurt in my cute shoes so I had to take a break and sit now and then, hehe). Then she had a 31 gifts party on Saturday and I spent way too much money (hehe) but got some cute stuff and it was great to see some of my girly friends from back in the day! But the Saturday night and Sunday my tummy was not happy so I didn't get much done...not even the laundry. Guess that means I'll have to stamp extra this weekend right??? And speaking of this weekend it's my Spring Fever class so if you're in the area and would like to attend and make 4 projects for $10 let me know!!! Ok, enough of the blah blah blah...here is the card:
Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps: Easter Blossoms, Something to Celebrate (hostess exclusive)
Paper: Whisper white, river rock, baja breeze, marina mist
Ink: River rock, marina mist
Accessories: Marina mist striped grosgrain and taffeta ribbon, scallop square duo die, white gel pen, finial press embossing folder, basic pearls
This card was pretty straight forward and I used an old Mojo Monday sketch to get my mojo going! I've been wanting to do something with this egg since I got the set. It went together quick and I really like the river rock with the blues and the white. And using an old sketch is a great way to kick start your creativity if you need a little kick in the behind! Hope you like it and hopefully I can stamp soon so I can come back with more fun projects!

Fabulous Friday
Hi stampers! To day I have a fabulous card and today is a fabulous day! I have the day off and I get to sleep in, go to the gym, go shopping and then go with my BFF to see Sugarland!!!! I hope to fit some stamping in there too but I'm not sure it's going to happen. Now, that would make for a super fabulous Friday for sure!
So, today's card pretty much sums up my day:-) It again features the sneak peek stamp set Four Frames. I've been on a roll with that set since I got it and I'm also on a roll with the in-colors and the hostess pattern paper pack. So I thought this polka dot frame stamp would work really well with the funky flower and polka dot DSP! And I was right!
Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps: Fabulous phrases, Four Frames (sneak peek)
Paper: Whisper white, poppy parade, concord crush, peach parfait, hostess DSP pack
Ink: Concord crush
Accessories: Scallop squares sizzix die, decorative label punch, punch pack, dotted scallop border punch, peach parfait ribbon, rhinestones
I have not used much concord crush or poppy parade and I think I'll have to order me some more...sometimes I'm just a little late to the party! And I'm very happy that I'll have a whole 'nother year to use them since our in colors are available for two years now! Did you know that? AND we are getting 5 NEW colors come July! How exciting! Anyway, I love the poppy on this card because it just adds a little POP, especially the little flower and rhinestone! I also think this card is very Mary Fish-ish and I love her stuff so I'm happy it turned out well. Well I'm off for my fa-boo friday, hope you have a fabulous Friday as well. Happy stamping!

Tutorial Time
Hi stampers! Today I have a quick video tutorial for you on using the Tulip Frame embossing folder that can be found in the Occasions Mini Catalog. This folder is a bit different since it's a border and not an all over pattern. And while it's fairly easy to emboss a whole card base it can be a bit tricky to emboss a card front because you can't just stick it in the folder and run it through. You need to cut the card front to 4" x 5.25" and that will give you a nice card front and a nice border on your card base. You can see this on a few of the cards I have posted here and I'll show you one on the video. Hope you find it helpful!
And it's that easy! Eventually you'll get to see the whole card that uses my blushing bride paper. It's a super cute card so make sure you stop back in often to see if it's up! Hope you found the video helpful!

Just the right "type"
Hi stampers! It's been slow stamping wise around here the past few days *sad face*. BUT I did manage to get a card made last night. I'd had the flowers stamped on the DSP for a while just waiting for inspiration to strike and I've been wanting to use the four frames set from the upcoming catalog that comes out in July. And then it hit me! The flower frame would be perfect with elements of style! Then, while searching for a sentiment I ran across the You're a Gem set and thought the little typwriter font was perfect with the DSP!!! So here's the cute little card I came up with:
Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps: Four Frames, Elements of Style, Bella toile
Paper: First edition DSP, sahara sand, always artichoke, rose red, watercolor
Ink: staz-on, blushing bride, rose red, sahara sand, always artichoke
Accessories: Decorative label punch, vanilla seam binding, aquapainter, beautiful wing embosslit
I'm not usually a big floral fan but I just LOVE all the elements here! I did have to be a bit careful when coloring my image on the DSP as it's rather thin and got wet fast! I just used a paper towel to dab off some the water in my aquapainter if I felt it was too wet. It was a bit wrinkled after it dried but it went on nicely with a bit of extra adhesive. I added a couple of details like torn edges, vanilla seam binding and the little butterflies and it just came right together! Hope you like it! Happy stamping!

Sneaky sneaky
Hi stampers! Not a lot of stamping going on around here lately as we went to a Blues game on Saturday and by the time we got back after the long car ride on Sunday, doing the grocery shopping (yuck) and trying to get some laundry in I needed a NAP! I never made it off the couch and into my studio! BUT I did find a little time on Friday night after my BFF the UPS man dropped of a box full of goodies! You've seen the first card I made with the sew suite stuff but I also made this card which has a DOUBLE sneak peek in it:
Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps: Four frames (sneak peek from 2011-2012 IBC), tiny tags
Paper: Marina mist, cherry cobbler, confetti white, river rock, paisley petals (another sneak peek)
Ink: Cherry cobbler
Accessories: Vintage wallpaper EF, decorative label punch, boho blossoms punch, jewelry tag punch, border punch, color spritzer, pearls, vintage trinkets
Can you find them? The sneak peeks???? They are items what will show up in July in the new idea book and catalog and in April when you spend $20 you get the opportunity to buy them way before the catalog comes out!!! How exciting! So, they are the "four frames" stamp set which coordinated with the decorative label punch (LOVE that thing) and the new "paisley petals" designer series paper. They are both just FAB!!!! Anyway, this card was cased directly from Stampin' Up and I think it's so cute! I'm off to stamp all night so hopefully I'll have something new and fun to show you soon! Happy stamping!!!!

My video debut!
Hi stampers! I have something super fun today...my first video! I've wanted to do this for a while now and finally got the courage up to do it, hehe. I practiced the other night but you guys won't ever see those videos since I'd just let my hair air dry, had no make up on, was wearing sweats AND I had my glasses on, hehe. I just got a tri pod today so I wasn't set up yet to video a project so I thought I'd take you on a tour of my stamp room! I have to tell on myself though...half way through the first take of the tour I dropped the camera! It was funny..but again...you guys won't be seeing that one! Anyway here is the video I decided to start here because I often get questions on how I have things stored:
I do hope that this is a "before" video and sometime soon I can show you the new room! I'll also be doing a video product review of some of my most favorite things soon! So make sure you check back in often! If you have questions about anything or would like more information about anything you see please let me know! Also, please let me know if there are any ideas or techniques that you're interested in me doing videos on! Thanks for joining me today!

Four Frames Meets Sew Suite
Hi stampers! Mr. Brown made a stop at my house last night and I actually didn't have to work so I got to play! I finally broke down and got some of the sew suite items from the occasions mini and I also got the new sneak peek set Four Frames that will be in the upcoming catalog in July. I thought the too would look so cute together and my sketch is loosely based on the Inkspirations sketch challenge #61. Only when I finished the card and looked back at the sketch did I notice that my panel with the sewing machines didn't quite match up with the sketch....oh well. That's what I get for looking at it in the morning and then not going back to it again until I was done, duh:-).
Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps: Four frames, sew suite, fabulous phrases, In stitches wheel
Paper: Sweet stitches DSP, whisper white, wild wasabi, mambo melon, dafodil delight, tangerine tango
Ink: staz-on, tangerine tango, wild wasabi, daffodil delight, mambo melon
Accessories: decorative label and 2.5" circle punches, 3" sizzix die, pom pom trim, tymless type sizzlits, dotted scallop punch
There is a lot going on here! I used the in stitches wheel on the card base and the patterns pieces stamp (it's so cute) on the pink circle. Can you find the new stamp? It's the polka dotted frame. Isn't it cute? It coordinates with the decorative label punch!!!! I also used my new alphabet sizzlits called Tymless type to cut out the "sew" part. The "sweet" part is also a set I got in my order called Fabulous Phrases and I think it will work great with the Four Frames set. For the last few details I cut out the pin cushion after I colored it (my mom had one of those and I can't look at this set without thinking of her *smile* and then I added some pom pom trim just for fun! I have a thank you sentiment inside in case you were wondering. Hope you like my funky retro card! Now, go play along with the challenge!

I crushed the color challenge!
Hi stampers! Quick post today to share the card I made last night. This card uses the current color challenge from Splitcoast stampers and the colors were concord crush, pear pizazz, and bashful blue. I have not used concord crush AT all if you can believe that but I really liked it here. This card has a lot of layers and elements but was still fairly simple to make.
Just a couple of notes:
1. The main image what stamped using a technique called "thumping". I took my markers and inked up the flower with bashful blue and the stem and leaf with my pear and then I took and ran my marker around the edge and then thumped it up and down on the body of the flower a few times. I think the technique is GREAT for a hydrangea....I hope the one I planted last summer comes up this year! It didn't do too well...I have a better green thumb in my flowers on my card I think hehe.
2. It's hard to see in the photo but I used one of our vintage trinket brads on the sentiment. It's really cute and looks like a tiny old button.
3. I also used my color spritzer with the concord crush marker to spritz the main image and the first edition DSP (I KNOW, I said I wouldn't use it....I just can't help myself *sigh*).
4. The pear layer was run through the big shot and then I took my ink pad directly to the paper to distress and age it.
Hope you enjoyed it, now I must get to work! Happy stampin!
Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps: Because I Care (hostess)
Paper: Very vanilla, concord crush, pear pizazz, bashful blue, first edition DSP
Ink: same (markers)
Accessories: Decorative label and oval punches, linen embossing folder, vintage trinkets, crochet trim, color spritzer

Spring...stepped up
Hi stampers! I have something extra special for you today, not one but TWO cards. I've been working on an Easter themed swap recently and this is one of the designs I was working on (don't worry if you're in my swap, this is not the card I settled on...and I'll post that one some time in April:-). I started out with the more involved card as the final idea but in the process of making it, I realized that I really liked my card in it's "unfinished" state as well. So, I left one more simple (since I almost always make my cards in pairs) and stepped the other one up to look more like the idea I had in mind all along.
Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps: Easter Blossoms, Bella toile
Paper: very vanilla, baja breeze, marina mist
Ink: Baja breeze, marina mist
Accessories: Scallop oval die, crystal effects, baja breeze glass glitter
As soon as I saw this stamp set I just thought it was screaming out to be used with one of my favorite background stamps, Bela Toile! And boy was I right! That's one of the many reasons I love SU! Not only do their fabulous colors coordinate so well but there are always tons of combinations with stamps and stamp sets that coordinate perfectly! They make it so easy to create!
I also love the combination and the simple color palate here. It's hard to tell in the picture but the card base is marina mist and the background was stamped in baja breeze and then sponged as well. The girl was stamped in marina mist so she would stand out and then the sentiment is also marina mist that I stamped off once to make a bit lighter shade. I'm a bit surprised I really liked my half finished card so well (the one on the left of course)...I guess sometimes less really is more! But I also like the stepped up version where I added the scalloped border (sponged and popped up for some dimension) and just a bit of the glass glitter on her flowers. The scallop border popped up also sort of reminds me of those old fashioned cameo charms, no? So, which one do you prefer? Leave me a note and let me know, ok?
Happy stamping!

Spring Fever Class
Hi stampers! Just wanted to announce my upcoming class.

I need a do-over
Hi stampers. I have a card for you today that didn't turn out quite like I wanted...hate when that happens. I have a hard time with masculine cards so I was excited when I thought of this one. I thought the hand image from the new birthday set "Bring On The Cake" (LOVE that set) would be perfect for the emerging color technique. It's super easy, you just stamp what you want to "emerge through" on a light colored paper and then emboss a large solid image (I used the splash from Extreme Elements) over it in clear embossing powder. And then for the magical part....you run your brayer over it with a darker colored ink and it looks all cool and you can see what you stamped underneath! You can see where I tore a couple of edges so it looked like I used white core cardstock. I rushed home from work or wherever I was to make it...and then ugh, I realized I made a mistake. I like the overall idea of this card but can anyone tell me what I think is wrong with it????
Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps: Bring on the cake, extreme elements, wonderfully worn
Paper: newsprint, very vanilla, whisper white, basic black, marina mist, soft suede
Ink: marina mist, soft suede, basic black, versamark
Accessories: clear embossing powder, linen thread, brayer
You probably don't really see it because we are all our own worst critics BUT I used whisper white for the main image and it just doesn't really go with the vintage look of the card...should have used very vanilla, DUH! I was too far gone into the card to fix it so here it is. I might make it over sometime using the vanilla but if you know me, you know I don't like to make repeat cards! Again, I think as a manly card it does work very well aside from my small flub up...and really....does anyone think that a man would notice that it's white and not vanilla??? Hahahahaha! Better luck to me next time I guess:-)
Happy stamping!

Butterfly...revisited
Hi stampers! I have a card for you today that was inspired by one I posted long ago. I really wanted to do something with the new first edition DSP (I'm really on a roll with it...I know..I'll move on someday I promise...maybe) and the elements of style stamp set. I think they were made for each other and are both decidedly vintage. So, I have a card hanging in my studio that I saw was made at an SU event last year and thought it was a good starting point. The layout is much the same but I changed the colors up and added a few special elements. I have to say I don't use a lot of purple in my stamping but thought it would go nicely with my theme here. So, here is the card:
Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps: Elements of style, clearly for you
Paper: perfect plum, elegant eggplant, Sahara sand, first edition DSP
Ink: perfect plum, elegant eggplant, sahara sand, basic black
Accessories: framed tulips embossing folder, silver smooch spray, antique brads, vintage tags, butterfly bigz die, very vanilla satin ribbon (Whew, I think that's it, teehee)
There is a lot of stuff going on here, I just kept adding elements like a crazy woman:-) The butterfly was stamped with stazon and then I colored it in with an aquapainter. Once it was dry I crumpled it up and sponged the edges and whole thing with the tea stain ink from the distressing kit. I also sponged the main panel of the DSP The other panel is sahara sand and was a nice neutral color here. I stamped on it also but stamped off each time before stamping and then distressed those edges as well. I adhered all three of the main panels together and sprayed them with the silver smooch for a little shimmer and once it was dry I popped it on the card base over some very vanilla satin ribbon. The finishing touches were the antique brad and the vintage tag (love love love those) which I stamped the small butterfly from clearly for you in perfect plum (hint: throw a glue dot on there so it stays put). I really love the way this card turned out (although I <3 the original also) and I hope you do too. Tell me what you think!
Happy stamping!

Busy Stampin' Saturday
Hi stampers! I finally had a weekend off...although I did teach at the Y both days but that's fun and kills two birds with one stone since I get paid AND I get my workout in all at the same time! Anyway I was able to get some stamping done finally! AND I designed all 4 cards I got done from scratch...quite the big deal for me!!! Anyway I was very inspired by the color challenge over on Hand Stamped Senitments. This might be the first time I've used Poppy Parade! I don't even have a full pack of it...and I just placed an order yesterday morning and BOY do I wish I had added one! I'm rationing the few sheets I do have now, hahaha. I also broke out the in color hostess pad of patterned paper!
Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps: Build a blossom, tiny tags
Paper: Poppy parade, pear pizzazz, blushing bride, DSP patterns pack in color (hostess item)
Ink: same
Accessories: Blossom petals punch, in color glimmer brads, circle punch, jewelry tag punch, pear ribbon
I'm loving the poppy, pear, and blushing bride together! The new flower punch and stamp set from the Mini is also awesome, I just LOVE how that flower looks! And the poppy glimmer brad is just the right pop too! Hope you like it!
And here's a bonus...I was so inspired by this color combo I went on to make another card using the apple blossom hostess set since I think it just SCREAMS out for poppy parade!
Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps: Apple blossom
Paper: Whisper white, blushing bride, pear pizzazz, in color patterns pack
Ink: same
Accessories: top note die, pear ribbon, large oval and decorative label punches, dotted scallop border punch, polka dots embossing folder
Hope you like them and since it's dreary, cold, and cloudy here I hope they brightened your day! Happy stamping and thanks for stopping by! Don't forget to say HI!

Clearly for you!
Hi stampers! I have a quick little card for you today that looks much like my last card. I really liked the look of the stamping on the First Edition DSP so I thought I’d do something else with it. So, I stamped the berry image from the Clearly For You stamp set (found in the occasion’s mini) over the botanical themed DSP in pear pizzazz. I also stamped the main focal image in pear, I just love that flourished background. And then I added my birds from the same set in soft suede. Now, I don’t LOVE this card but I do like it and it also has a couple of fun little details on it, let me show you:
I added the crochet trim which I love and then I added the little vintage tag which I stamped with the You’re A Gem set….that I didn’t think I needed…turns out I didJ That ever happen to you? And here’s a little behind the scenes tip: I put a glue dot on the back of the tag after I tied it on to make sure it stays just where I want it. Finally, I tied it all together with that cute little rosette! Isn’t it just adorable? They are great, they come in a pack with three different sizes and the BEST part is that you can color them with a marker or dye them with an ink refill to match any color you want! To keep things simple here though, I just left it in it’s natural vanilla color. I think it adds just the right touch! Hope you like today’s card, thanks for stopping by and make sure to say hi in the comments before you click away!
Happy stamping!

Another one:-(
So I needed another sympathy card this past week:(. So here is a card that I whipped up last Friday night. I hope that it brings my friend a bit of comfort.
I wanted something simple and understated (as well as mailable ie. flat) and thought the new First Edition DSP would work well. It's very cool paper that looks like it's come from books. I also like that some of it has a botanical theme so I stamped the orchid stamp from the set Thanks For Caring in crumb cake on the paper. I also sprayed the DSP with a little bit of the vanilla smooch spritz for a little more dimension. You can't really see it in the picture but I think it softens the paper up just a bit. Otherwise, the card is pretty simple and I like the muted color combo of the crumb cake, vanilla, and black. I think it turned out pretty well. Please take a minute to tell me what you think of it....and to say a little prayer for my two friends who have lost their best friends.
Stampin' Supplies:
Stamp sets: Thanks for caring
Paper: crumb cake, very vanilla, first edition DSP
Ink: basic black, crumb cake
Accessories: vanilla smooch spritz, 2.5 inch circle punch, scallop border punch, very vanilla seam binding
