Hi stampers! I know, I stink at life and blogging :-) I promise I'm trying to get better but I really have not stamped much lately. I thought I'd have TONS of time since I quit (which I do) but along with time you need ideas and inspiration and mojo which have been in short supply for some reason. And then last night I locked myself away so I could finish my almost THIRTY swaps for my first Control Freaks swap (don't worry...I'll share them at some point)! Let me just say that using some rounded corner panels was not my brightest idea when making that many! I punched 216 or so corners, lol!!! Good thing I got my envelope punch board...it made it a little easier! I'll have a video for that in a few days!
Anyway, I've got a SUPER simple card today using the another thank you photopolymer set which I put off getting and am now kicking myself because it's TOTALLY cute!
I didn't have too much time the other night so I pulled it out and whipped up a super quick card!
Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps: Another thank you
Paper: Whisper white, coastal cabana
Ink: Coastal cabana, crisp cantaloupe, strawberry slush
Accessories: Paper piercing pack
I can't wait to make more cards with this set! I have to say I was skeptical about the clear sets (and don't get me wrong, I still love my rubber) but they are kind of fun! Give them a try! You won't be disappointed!
Hi stampers! Ok, don't be mad at me because I don't have a card to share at the moment. I have 20! Well kind of :-)
Stampin' Up has released this super cute and awesome card kit! The Everyday Occasions card kit has everything you need (minus some scissors and adhesive) that you need to make 20 cute cards for about any occasion!
It would be PERFECT for world card making day which is next Saturday! It is also great for the new stamper or a great gift! The cards are simple but fun and cute and can be made quickly so it's a great little creative escape!
Don't think you're creative? No problem! It comes with helpful tips and tricks. And did I mention the cards are super cute? Who wouldn't love to get a card you made just for them???? This is a great way to get your feet wet in this stamping thing!!!!
Just look at all the stuff you get! Ink spots, stamps and embellishments along with all the paper supplies! All in a cute re-usable box too! Let me know if you have any questions!
Hi stampers! Happy Tuesday! It's time for a new challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments! And this post is going to be short and sweet as I'm not feeling well at all at the time of writing it! AND I know it's time to go to bed because a SPIDER was crawling on my arm!!!! GROSS! Hopefully I can get through this post without being TOO creeped out :-) But anyway it's a super cute sketch!
And here's my card. It didn't turn out exactly like I had in my head but it works. I wanted to use the cute little kit in the holiday catalog a bit differently!
Make sure to check out the rest of the DT's creations and play along! We'd love to see what you come up with!!!
Hi stampers! I guess it's time for another edition of Mailable Monday although around here I think it's more like mopey Monday :( I should be happy as 96 choco donut k-cups showed up on Friday when I got home from my mom's house, hehe! And you would THINK that I would be stamping and blogging up a storm with all my extra time but the fact is it just hasn't happened. I've done a whole lot of nothing really. Guess I'm in a bit of a slump but I'm going to try to work on it this week. And who knows...maybe the coffee will help! If only IT could do the laundry and clean the house.....
We still aren't having any luck in the baby department so I'm guessing that's a big part of my problem. Especially when finding out a friend is pregnant and while I'm happy for them I'm still sad for me and it makes me feel like a terrible person for not being as happy for them as I should or whatever you want to call it. Anyway...this too shall pass. Some weeks are hard and some are no problem...... What's your trick if you're feeling uninspired? For this morning, I'm going to try to make a card quickly while my breakfast (and that wonderful coffee) digest before I go out for a run! Wish me luck!
Anyway, I'll try to post more! For now, I'll leave you with another sample I made for convention. We got the chalk talk set of course and also the tag a bag accessory kit which I tried to incorporate on a few of my cards. The kit is not only perfect for those cute bags and boxes it's sold with but can be used in a million different ways like on this card!
And don't forget about the FREE video class I'm offering! You can find details HERE! All you have to do is place a qualifying order and I'll show you how to make the cutest Halloween banner! I'll be offering more as soon as I get my act together. You can look for a Christmas banner class in October! I'm also going to be offering a loyalty/rewards program for shopping with me and possibly an online club too with access to special projects and an exclusive club blog! If you have questions about either one of those please email me! MindyBackes@gmail.com
And don't forget you can shop anytime on my online store by clicking the button to the right!
Hi stampers! It's Friday which means I get to see my hubby for more than one day in a row :-) He's been traveling this week and while it was fun to spend time with my momma I'm excited to see him for two whole days! Ha! And since it's the 20th it's also time for the Control Freaks blog hop so if you're looking for that post just scroll down! It's actually posted under yesterday's date! And if you're not looking for it, check it out anyway!!!!!!
Anyway it's also time for another Fab Friday challenge. This week is a simple sketch.
I kept pretty true to the sketch as I am most times.
Ok, and I know the photo isn't edited...I'll work on that but right now it's late and I'm using my mom's slow-ish internet :-) So....I'll try to come back and fix it. Thought I'd already edited but doesn't look like it....
And make sure to check out all the other great DT designs this week! Everyone did a FAB job! And play along!!!
Hi stampers! It's that time of the month for the Control Freaks Blog Hop!
You may be seeing this Thursday night but Friday is the "live" day :-) And don't worry if you didn't start at the "beginning" because me make an endless loop-de-loop! You probably just came from the awesome Connie Babbert's blog!
So this month's theme is Halloween, my fave! So here we go!
I wanted to make sure I used some of the cute washi tape and these bats are just too cute! I cheated a bit and pulled out the retired googlie eyes from last year to make one a bit funny looking. He kind of reminds me of me with my glasses on, ha!
Next up, I wanted to veer away from the main colors I've been using this season thanks to the DSP in the catalog. I love that DSP and the colors but I like other combos for Halloween too! This is a fave! Old olive, rich razzleberry and tangerine tango!!! LOVE!!!
And now my most favorite project! I love Halloween home decor and one of the sheets of the DSP is so perfect for this! I cut out a little square and threw it in this frame then just embellished a bit! Super easy and super cute!
I used a few of the buttons from the halloween banner accessory kit I had left over from my banner to jazz it up! I kind of love it!
Now, it's time to head on over to my fellow shortie and bestie running buddy's blog Wendy! Make sure to complete the loop and check out everyone's Halloween creations!
Hi stampers! Hello from the farm! I spent yesterday and part of the day today with my momma. I think fall is officially here as the weather was gorgeous yesterday and then it was all rainy this morning.....darn it since I was planning to go run while my mom was at her volunteer job. Oh well. The sun was coming out earlier but now it looks to be gloomy again as I peek out the kitchen window over the valley. Have I mentioned I love it here? The only thing to make it better would be to have my stamps here :-)
So in honor of the fall weather (I do prefer the sunny over the rainy....) I have a fall card.
Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps: Harvest of thanks, gorgeous grunge, off the grid
Paper: Very vanilla, crushed curry, soft sky, sweater weather DSP
Ink: Chocolate chip, crushed curry, soft sky
Accessories: Apothecary accents framelits, linen thread, naturals designer buttons, epic day washi tape
For some reason this card just seemed to fit the day. It's not a gloomy card but the splatters and stuff just spoke to me today I guess. It's also the first time I've used the off the grid background which I love! It adds just the right touch!
And don't forget about my spooky banner class that you can come to in person or get for FREE online! Check it out on my classes and events page!
Hi stampers! Happy Monday! I have been super lazy lately and not doing much at all let alone stamping! Oops! BUT I have managed to make a couple of Christmas cards that I'm going to share today.
This first card is one that I made a few weeks ago for a sketch challenge and of course in true fashion didn't get it posted in time :-)
I just love this stamp! And with the stamp-a-ma-jig it was easy to line up!
And this one uses a non-traditional Christmas color....summer starfruit! It also uses the super cool canvas creations. The main panel is actually cut from the canvas and stamped on with the flakes! It looks super cool in real life! It's got a really cool texture! I tried to stamp the sentiment on it as well but that didn't work so well. So for a tip, I'd stay away from using sentiments on it and stick to bolder images ;-) And you might be wondering about that sentiment...it's from one of the holiday stamps that are "online only" meaning they carried over from last year but aren't in the catalog! This is one of my favorite sets! Make sure you check those out!
Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps: Festive flurry, greetings of the season (carry over list)
Paper: Whisper white, midnight muse, canvas creations
Ink: Pool party, summer starfruit, midnight muse
Accessories: Basic rhinestones
Hope you enjoyed Merry Monday and have a great week! Don't forget to check out my online class for the Halloween banner that you can get for FREE!!!

Hi stampers and happy Tuesday! It's time for another fun challenge over at Hand Stamped Sentiments...and time for me to go to the dentist, ack. But, at least one of my BFF's cleans my teeth so it's not ALL bad. I think sometimes we do more talking than anything or she talks and I nod and say "uh-huh", hehe! I think I might need a longer time slot, lol!
Anyway, sometimes a color combo comes along that you just LOVE. Well that happens to be this week's colors! They are so yummy!!!!!!
I had already used cherry cobbler with gumball and baked brown sugar for Christmas colors and I was shocked to see how pretty raspberry ripple was with them! BUT, since I'm trying to focus on fall projects I went that way and made this pretty little card:
I just LOVE it! I took my embossed panel and sponged it with baked brown sugar. Kind of reminds me of birch wood! And I just had a question emailed to me about how to line up the stamps with this particular die and I made a video about it last year so I'll share it again now!
Now, don't forget to check out the other design team's creations and play along with us using this great color combo!
Hi stampers! I don't have a mailable card today (although it probably would mail ok with a cardstock liner) but how about a new feature? How about Merry Monday since Christmas really isn't that far off!!!!!????? Now, half of you will be cursing me for bringing that up, I know but really it's just a few months away:-) I have been TRYING to make fall and halloween cards but really all I seem to want to create is Christmas cards...so I came up with this little ditty last week for a Connie & Mary challenge that I of course didn't get posted in time.
Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps: Christmas collectables, Be very merry
Paper: Whisper white, chocolate chip, old olive, real red, baked brown sugar, season of style DSP
Ink: Old olive, real red
Accessories: Circle punch, Christmas ornament punch, basic rhinestones
I really love the new ornament set and punch! They are totally vintage and I LOVE vintage Christmas stuff, especially ornaments. I also love the single sentiment stamp, it's just so CUTE! Can't go wrong with the season of style DSP either! Cool patterns and yummy colors! I'm seeing a return of old olive to my repertoire which has been lacking since lucky limeade came into the picture.
Hi stampers! Happy Saturday! I hope you're having a fantastic weekend! Mine is just ok....Wal Mart has been out of my fave kind of k-cup all week and I ran out this morning. NOT good! And I've been to EVERY single grocery store in town to no avail! I tried the new Folgers Mocha Swirl today and it was just "meh". I probably won't buy it again. I even have a coupon for the one I can't get, grrrrr!
So, now that you have a new k-cup review we can move onto stamping, ha! I've got a Halloween card today since I totally NEED to be focusing on fall cards...all I can seem to think about is Christmas cards, what's up with that??? Anyway, this card totally has me thinking of that Seinfeld episode where Eileen sings "Witchy Woman". Please tell me someone else remembers that one :-)
See, there's a lot of witchy women on my card! I really love the chevron background stamp. You'll notice it's not stamped super even here and I assure you that was done intentionally:-) I wanted it to be a bit distressed. It's also hard to see in the photo but the bodies of the spiders (YUCK, hate spiders) are rhinestones for a bit of bling.
I haven't stamped hardly at all during my unemployment and I'm not sure why BUT I've got some things on the agenda! I'm going to try to offer some classes soon both in person and online so stay tuned!
Hi stampers and happy Friday! I've been having a nice little couple of weeks "off" :-) I've been relaxing and not even stamping much! Say what???? I know, I need to fix that! I did get a little something stamped for the next Fab Friday challenge! This week's colors come straight out of the holiday catalog!
I pretty much feel like September is the start of fall even if the calendar and weather differ! I love fall! The leaves changing, the cooler/chilly weather, sweaters and hoodies and leggings, boots, and of course the Starbuck's pumpkin spice latte!!! I haven't had one yet as it's still too hot but I'll get one once it cools off a bit!
I of course made a fall themed card with these colors because...well...because I just HAD to and I HAD to use some of the sweater weather DSP! I also love making a background with the truly grateful large image. I just stamp it in different directions and boom...instant background!
