Oh Snap! I have lost it!

Hi stampers!  So I've officially lost it!  No, not my mind....a stamp!  Or at least I did for a short time.  First time ever I think!  I'm usually fairly mindful to put my stamps back immediately after use so I don't lose them or throw them away with my mess because I would totally do that.

Last week I finally felt inspired and sat down to make some cards and only wanted to do ONE thing!  I wanted to use the single camera stamp and color it with my blendies and use the "Oh Snap" sentiment from......  It's the SINGLE reason I broke down and bought the silly camera stamp.  So, I got to get the sentiment.....uh....What.  The.  Heck?   Where is it?  CRAP!  So I look through ALL my sets that were near it (I have a weird storage system now, I'll show you sometime soon I hope) thinking I've put it in another case by chance.  Nope, no dice.  All I wanted to do was make this ONE flipping card lol!!!!  I finally got mad (hubby even asked me what was going on as I was talking to myself and stomping around and my room is right outside his "office" although he got a new desk this weekend and moved over a bit so I get to cabbage onto his old space and desk, yay...he wanted to be closer to the TV lol...men!)

So, I got up and turned off my work lights and gathered my stuff and just happened to walk by some stamps that I'd JUST moved.  They were stamps from SAB and the expired occasions.  And it hit me, I had used that sentiment with the Peachy Keen set since it had the camera image.  Could it be in there????  I should ONLY be so lucky!  Wouldn't you know it!  Opened it up and there it was, oh happy day!  LOL!  Guess it's good I got mad and stomped around or I may not have walked by there and happened to think about it! But the bad news was I wasted all my energy looking for it and being PO'd so I didn't feel like finishing the card lol!  Figures, right????

Anyway, I finished it a few days later. So here it is:-)
Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps:  Snapshot, hip notes
Paper:  Whisper white, basic black, coastal cabana
Ink:  Momento, blendabilities (daffodil delight, coastal cabana)
Accessories:  On film framelits, essentials woodcuts, arrows embossing folder

Sorry the picture is not great.  But the 9 month pregnant woman isn't hauling the baby bump down the stairs to take another:-)

Any of you ever lose a stamp?  Did you find it?  Do you put them away right away or let them pile up on your desk?  I really don't lose many things in stamping and my "real" life but it's always awful when I do!  I have a favorite pair of fleece sweatpants that have just up and disappeared and an under armor fleece...I have a feeling someone at the gym inherited them both :-)

I'll try to have some tips on coloring with the blendies once I play with them some more.  There is a learning curve for sure but I like them.  I'm not good with other alcohol markers so these are great for me since they are easy and take a lot of the guess work out.  The one thing I will mention is that you need to use momento ink.  Staz on will bleed.  And the momento works great as just a regular black ink as well!

Happy stamping!

The Golden Age

Hi stampers!  So I have a super simple card for you today and sadly the photo does NOT do it justice!  I tried and tried to make it look as good as it does in person but it wasn't working!  But gold is IN now and I'm kind of surprised I've embraced it in both stamping and fashion!  A few years ago you would not have caught me in gold and now it's almost all I wear :-)  Sadly, one day I'll probably hate it all again (lol) but I hope that takes a while...I may have quite an earring collection ;-)  And SU has a ton of fun gold toned products!!!!

Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps:  Hip notes
Paper:  Whisper white, brushed gold
Ink:  Encore gold
Accessories:  Decorative label punch, linen thread, watercolor wonder washi tape

I used one of my favorite sketches and the watercolor wonder washi tape which is very pretty in person!  I also used the brushed gold cardstock which has been around for ages and I tend to pass over it but it's GOR-JUS!!!!   Looking back I probably should have cut the main panel down a bit more to show more of the gold!  And I was going to emboss the sentiment which would look great as well but...well...I'm lazy and instead of pulling all the supplies out for that I remembered the gold ink we have in the mini!  It also looks much better in person!

Have you embraced the gold trend?  If not, give it a try!  It's a perfect time to stock up on the gold stuff too with SAB!

Happy stamping!

Oh snap!

Hi stampers!  Oh snap, it's Friday!  Ok, so I don't really use this sentiment much (if at all) but I still think it's cute!  I have heard some of my kiddos at the school (my old job) say it though and it pretty much means "no way" or "sweet/cool" or they say it when someone "burns" someone :-)  I think the only other time I've heard it is in the movie Freaky Friday, the one with Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan BEFORE she went kind of nuts (which is too bad because I always liked her and thought she was really pretty).  That's one of those movies I can watch over and over and have on in the background when I'm doing stuff.  I have a number of those and it drives my DH nuts as he doesn't like to watch things more than once.  Anyone else like me?

Anyway, I came up with this super simple card the other day using the hip notes set from the new occasions mini.  I love the cute little sayings in this set plus the fun fonts!  I'm a sucker for the fonts!!!!

So while the saying may not have a ton of uses it pairs up super well with the peachy keen set since it has a camera and with the on film framelits as they do too.  Now, it's important to note (and it's not readily evident in the catalog) that the camera stamp and the die don't match up.  Now, while that's not ideal, I just used the die on it's own. Since it embosses while it cuts it's cute all on it's own.  To make the embossing stand out just a bit more I sponged the edges and ran my sponge lightly over the whole thing for a bit of contrast.

Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps:  Hip notes
Paper:  Whisper white, sahara sand, crisp cantaloupe, coastal cabana
Ink:  Crisp cantaloupe, coastal cabana
Accessories:  On film framelits, chevron border punch, basic rhinestones

You could totally make this one mailable without the rhinestone too but I wanted something a little glitzy and I thought it looked like the camera lens.  One more tip is to use some wax paper in the filmstrip die.  Just place it over the paper then place the die.  I forgot to do this the first time around and basically destroyed the cutout when trying to pry it out, duh!  A little wax paper and it just pops out!

Happy stamping!
