Fancy Friday Blog Hop - Color Refresh Edition

Hi stampers!  Happy Friday!  It's time for another Fancy Friday Blog Hop with some amazing past and present Stampin' Up Artisan friends!  I'm still so thrilled to be a part of this group!

This month's theme was centered around the color refresh and we were tasked to use some of our favorite new or returning colors!  I can't tell you how excited I was for the color refresh when it was announced!!!!!  It was no easy job to pick because I love almost all of them!

I used one of my current favorites, two new favorites and one that I haven't quite made friends with yet (although now, I think we are BFF's).

Lovely Lipstick isn't my most favorite BUT the more I use it, the more I like it!

For my card, I started by making a background by watercoloring on my Silicone Craft Sheet then I smashed my Watercolor Paper onto it.  It's a great way to fake a watercolor wash if it's not your strong suit, like me!  Fake it till you make it!!!  After it was dry, I added some of our Shimmery Embossing Paste for just a little texture.

I was on the fence about the Lined Alphabet Bundle but I ended up getting them and I'm pretty glad!  They are cool and pretty versatile!  You could fussy cut these if you don't have the dies but I'll show you how I did it with the dies and the Stamparatus.

I used my dies to cut out my DSP just barely on the edge so it left the letter slightly attached as you can see here.  I then put it in my Stamparatus (away from the hinges) and lined up the letter.  After it's stamped you can just easily hand trim the rest of the letter.  I suppose you could stamp and then cut in out but I found this to be easier.

I hope you liked my color combo and I hope you're inspired to try it yourself!

Now your off to see my fellow teammate, Paula!  You're going to love her color combo!
Thanks for hopping with us!

Happy stamping!

Same Sketch

Hi stampers!  So I realized as I was going to post this, it's basically the same sketch as the card I posted yesterday :-)  It must be one of my go-to's.  It's funny since I didn't even realize as I was creating it, I just wanted to use this suite and this is what I came up with!

This DSP is so gorgeous!  I didn't need any focal images since I cut out some of the flowers!

A tiny sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings was the perfect addition as well as a few of our new Adhesive Backed Sequins.  I'm also just over the moon that Mint Macaron is back.  It's SUCH a pretty color!

Kit Inspiration

Hi stampers!  We have some fantastic kits in the catalog!  Kits are great if you want to explore thing stamping thing without a lot of stuff, are short on creative time, are limited on space, they are great for traveling, and really, great for any crafter any time!   I was obsessed with the Notes Of Kindness Card Kit when the catalog came out.  I love the images and the colors!  You'll see some of the actual cards from the kit shortly BUT I wanted to point out that our kits are also great sources of inspiration.

I didn't actually use the kit (other than the stamps) to make this card but the overall look, color combo and images, are from the kit.  Note that you do need the kit to get the stamp set though.  But I wanted to show you that a kit goes further than just the cards it includes :-)

For this watercolor wash, I used Soft Seafoam.  I did one pass and then let it dry and did another pass for some dimension.  Don't forget, with watercoloring, letting things dry before doing more is key!  I didn't have any copper thread (aside from what's in the kit and I'm not sure how that happened lol) so I used the vanilla ribbon from the Tea Room Ribbon Pack since it had copper.

Two Minute Tuesday

Hi stampers!  So, I needed a quick card the other day.  Like in a couple of minutes.  This little elephant came to my rescue!  This card is super simple but super cute!

I stamped her twice so I could punch out the ear with the pattern on it and then popped it up on a mini dimensional.  Have I mentioned my love for those????

Unexpected Combo

Hi stampers!  So I have another card with a color combo that came about by looking at my scrap pile!  It's such good inspiration because things just get thrown together!  I don't think I'd have ever paired these together on my own.  And I haven't used the new Petal Pink much but I think I like it!  It's a very pretty pink that's a little more on the peach side, or at least it seems it to me.  I paired it here with Lemon Lime Twist and Shaded Spruce which I can't stop using.  It's so funny, when I first saw it, I said I won't need a full pack of that until closer to Christmas.  WRONG!  LOL!

I had also been meaning to use this background stamp so I had it stamped and just sitting there on my desk to I decided to pair it with this combo and I think it worked!  I think that this set will work great with many of our sets, including Wood Words which I used here!

I realized my circle was a little squashed after I edited my photo, I will fix that on the actual card.   And speaking of that circle, it's part of the new Stitched Labels Framelits and they are so fun!  I used a LOT of dies here even though it's a pretty simple card.

The new Basic Adhesive-Backed Sequins are quickly becoming a favorite as well.  Just pop them off and stick them on your project!

Happy stamping!
