Fab Friday 171

Hi stampers!  Happy Friday!  It's a happy day around here as Jon comes home from being in Belgium all week!  Yay!  And followed by a long weekend!  It's also time for a new Fab Friday challenge!  We have a sketch this time!

I've had this background just waiting to be made into a card!  I'll link the video I did a few weeks ago for the masks and Pigment Sprinkles below!  It's such a fun technique!  This sketch was perfect for this background because it doesn't need much to make it stand out!  For my letters, I just stamped them and cut them out with the dies, then you can just trim off the layering parts leaving just the letters.

I stuck pretty true to the sketch and didn't need much to finish this one off!  Hope you like it!  And I hope you play along with us and check out what the rest of the team did!

Here's the video which works for any of our masks, this is just the one I chose to use!

Fab Friday 146

Hi stampers!  Happy Friday!  I have not stamped much or blogged this week.  I've been in a FUNK physically and mentally this week!  But hopefully, since it's Friday, I'm out of it!  I did at least make this card for Fab Friday.  It's time for a new challenge and we have some PRETTY colors for you!

I know sometimes five color challenges can be hard but I really love these colors.  I want to show you the image that inspired them that I found on Pinterest, it's so pretty!

SEE!  Pretty!   And I had gemstones in mind when I made my card.  I was sad that we didn't have any gemstone stamps after the last catalog BUT we had some gemstone dies!  The Eclectic Layers Framelits have a couple of diamonds in them.

I cut one of each color and then went back with my embossing mat and the faceted gem and embossed them all.  I have a few videos of this on my youtube channel but my biggest tip is to use washi tape to secure them before embossing.  And put the die cutting face up....ask me how I know :-)

I made my own sentiment using stamps and die cuts.  I was able to stamp in black on the glimmer paper!

I also took sponge daubers (I found this worked better than sponges, I tried that first) and went around the edges and then lightly went over them to make them appear even more faceted.  I really love how they turned out!

I hope you enjoyed today's card and these colors and I hope you'll play along!  There are SO many things you can do with this combo!

Fancy Friday Blog Hop - Color Refresh Edition

Hi stampers!  Happy Friday!  It's time for another Fancy Friday Blog Hop with some amazing past and present Stampin' Up Artisan friends!  I'm still so thrilled to be a part of this group!

This month's theme was centered around the color refresh and we were tasked to use some of our favorite new or returning colors!  I can't tell you how excited I was for the color refresh when it was announced!!!!!  It was no easy job to pick because I love almost all of them!

I used one of my current favorites, two new favorites and one that I haven't quite made friends with yet (although now, I think we are BFF's).

Lovely Lipstick isn't my most favorite BUT the more I use it, the more I like it!

For my card, I started by making a background by watercoloring on my Silicone Craft Sheet then I smashed my Watercolor Paper onto it.  It's a great way to fake a watercolor wash if it's not your strong suit, like me!  Fake it till you make it!!!  After it was dry, I added some of our Shimmery Embossing Paste for just a little texture.

I was on the fence about the Lined Alphabet Bundle but I ended up getting them and I'm pretty glad!  They are cool and pretty versatile!  You could fussy cut these if you don't have the dies but I'll show you how I did it with the dies and the Stamparatus.

I used my dies to cut out my DSP just barely on the edge so it left the letter slightly attached as you can see here.  I then put it in my Stamparatus (away from the hinges) and lined up the letter.  After it's stamped you can just easily hand trim the rest of the letter.  I suppose you could stamp and then cut in out but I found this to be easier.

I hope you liked my color combo and I hope you're inspired to try it yourself!

Now your off to see my fellow teammate, Paula!  You're going to love her color combo!
Thanks for hopping with us!

Happy stamping!
