Fab Friday 160

Hi stampers!  YIKES, I have been MIA!  It all started a few weeks ago as I was getting ready to go to Vegas over spring break and send Ian to my mom's farm!  So many things to do to get ready, right?  I wasn't stamping much, whoops!  And it's taking me a while to get back into it I guess!  I have grand plans and then everything falls apart.  Just like yesterday afternoon when my to do list was long and then I stubbed my toe (you know, the one I previously broke clear in two) SO bad.  The jury is still out if it's broken again but I did not get to ALL the things after that.

Anyway, at least it's Fab Friday time and I have something really simple for you.  That's not all bad right?

But, the ink smear IS all that bad...  Oh.  Well.  LOL!

This one came together quick thanks to our notecards!  Make sure to check out what the rest of the team did and play along with us!

Fab Friday 159

Hi stampers!  Happy Friday!  It's time for a new challenge over at Fab Friday!  We have a sketch for you today!

I finally remembered to use this embossing folder!  It's so pretty.  I sponged it with some White Craft Ink to really make the design stand out.  For my image, I stamped and then spritzed with water on watercolor paper.  I then splattered it with a marker when it was dry.

I love the sentiment from Part Of My Story.  You only have a few more weeks to get it FREE during Sale A Bration!  Who wouldn't like to get a card and know their friend is thinking of them?

I think the color combo is slightly unexpected for spring but I really like it!  Hope you can join us in the challenge!

Spectacular Cupcakes

Hi stampers!  Happy hump day!  This week is flying by, we have been busy!  Blogging again on location while Ian has his therapy!  Today's card is a simple one but I LOVE it!  The giant greeting makes it really easy to make a fun and simple card!

I simply used a notecard and our Stampin' Blends.  This would be a great card to make if you're new to the blends!   You could make them all the same color or different like I did!

Easy peasy!

Happy stamping...or coloring!

Flowering Sunset

Hi stampers!  Long time no talk, no stamp!  I just haven't been able to get it together to do anything stamp wise lately!  And truth be told, I had a headache over the weekend and was just tired so I laid around and I'm not sorry about it :-)

I experimented a little with my background here and I cannot remember how I did it. Does this surprise you?  I know I spritzed it but did I color with ink, colors pencils?  I have no idea lol!  Oh well, if you want to recreate it, just play around!  I mean that's what I did.

I just adore this stamp set.  It's so fabulous!  I'm not going to link all the supplies for this one since I can't remember exactly what I did but I put in the basics.  I want to say these colors are Grapefruit, Melon, and Grape but don't hold me to it ;-)

Grape Ape

Hi stampers!  Ok so I didn't color this gorilla purple but I did use some Gorgeous Grape so it works, right?  Who remember The Great Grape Ape?  I'm not sure if I ever actually watched it but I remember seeing him.  Anyway, I guess he inspired this card here!

I love how our sets can be used beyond the original intent.  This set, Hey Love is mainly geared for Valentine's Day but I didn't get much use out of it before it was over (oops).  So, I repurposed this guy here just to say hi!

I colored him in with some Watercolor Pencils on Watercolor Paper.  Unfortunately, the second set of pencils isn't currently available but you could use ink just as easily.  Then, I did some layering.  I pulled in another Valentine item, the Be Mine Stitched Dies, for the background.  Did you know that a few of these dies don't actually cut on their own, but make a fun stitched design on your paper.  Great for backgrounds like this!  Occasionally I see people think that they have faulty dies but some of ours are meant to act like this!

Side note:  Isn't he just the cutest?  My sentiment is from the Well Said Stamp Set.  Don't forget about all the tiny words in all of your stamp sets!  They can find a home on any card!

And a tip for coloring.  I typically use my retired basic black ink to color with.  I ink in Versamark first and then into my black and heat emboss with clear powder.  I assume you could do this with Stazon as well.  People often ask if it affects my ink pad and I have never had any trouble.  I have a much easier time watercoloring when I emboss because it creates a little raised edge to hold the water and colors separate.

That's it for today!  Don't forget to use this set outside of Valentine's Day and pull other Valentine items in for everyday cards!

Happy stamping!
