Fab Friday 138

Hi stampers and happy Friday!  It's been summer break over here for a week and I'm riding the struggle bus after only a few days.  HOW did I stay home with Ian ALL day EVERY day before preschool?  LOL!  I got a taste of freedom and I like it!  He's also in a very threenager stage, at least for him.  He's a pretty good boy so even just a little attitude seems like a lot to me.  I hope we survive the summer, ha!

Anyway, it's Friday and time for a new challenge over at Fab Friday!  We have some monochromatic colors for you this time!

Even if pink isn't your thing, you should give these a try!  If nothing else, these are TOTAL flamingo colors and that's exactly what I did!

I stamped on watercolor paper and using the Stamparatus for good ink coverage.  Watercolor paper is very textured and I don't always get a great image so the tool is perfect for that use!  I used all three colors and then I used my aquapainter to blend them around and make them bleed a little.  But just a little.  If you do this, go light with the water.  You can always keep adding more but it's hard to take it away! I waited until it was dry splattered it a bit with my markers.

A few other little details and it was done!  I hope you like it and I hope you check out what the rest of the design team did and please play along!  We'd love to have you!

Fab Friday 116

Hi stampers!  Happy Friday!  I had my follow up for my foot yesterday and things seem to be healing as expected.  It's been just over two weeks now, and that's usually right around the time you notice a difference with fractures and it's feeling pretty good.  I was able to bend it more than I have been yesterday will less weird feelings (lol) so that's good.  I was kind of disappointed they didn't do a repeat x-ray but I'm not surprised either I guess because it's a toe and I didn't have any pain when he examined it.  Now, to just not over do it for 4 more weeks, hehe.  He said I can try real shoes some too...I'm kind of nervous about that but we'll see!  I tried briefly over the 4th and it didn't go well lol, but a few days can make all the difference too!

Anyway, on to the real reason you came to visit, the Fab Friday challenge!

It's a lot of colors, I know, but I'm kind of in love with this combo!  It's so fun!  And you guys!  I did something I never do!  I made a background scene!!!!  I mean, these colors were just calling out for a sunset and a flamingo, were they not?????

I simply did a watercolor wash for my background.  I did the tangerine and daffodil consecutively so they blended together and then I dried it with my heat tool before I did the water with Bermuda bay so that it wouldn't blend together.  I'm not sure those two colors would mesh well :-)

The ripples in the water are looking a bit like tranquil tide in my photo for some reason but it's Bermuda!  I stamped them when the watercolor paper was just a tad damp so a few of them bled just a little as well.

I fussy cut my flamingo after stamping him stamped off once on watercolor paper and then his body full strength.  I also lightly misted the paper so the ink would bleed a little bit for a softer look.  The sentiment is stamped in full strength an then the thanks is stamped off once also.

Make sure to see what else the design team did with these colors and then whip something up to share with us!  We'd love to see what you make!

I'm a Flamingo

You guys!  I'm a flamingo...why?  Well I hit my foot just right on a piece of equipment at Ian's gymnastics class on Wednesday and broke my toe!  UGH!  So I'm trying to balance on one leg quite a bit like a flamingo, hahahaha!  If you follow me on FB or IG you probably already know this from me posting yesterday :-)

Seriously this was the most random thing and as an athletic trainer, I knew it was bad and the x-ray looked exactly like I expected it to based on the way my foot was presenting.  I'm TRYING to be a good patient but I'm much better being the medical provider than the patient!  Not working out strenuously (you can bet I will be doing SOMETHING) for the next SIX TO EIGHT weeks may do me in!  Also, chasing around Ian who's a running fool should be interesting.  I was super lucky in that my dad and step mom were on the way to visit the morning I did it.  I'm so thankful to have their help for at least a day and I'm going to cry when they leave Friday!  I'm really trying to stay off of it as much as possible but that's not easy for me or with a toddler, right?  And my black post op shoe is going to look just FABULOUS with a dress for a wedding in a few weeks, lol!  Anyway, I SHOULD have ample time to stamp and blog while I recover...we'll see how that goes ;-)  Silver linings, right? Ha!

Anyway, since I'm a flamingo, let's look at a card with one.  At first glance I wasn't a fan of this set but then some of the display stampers and artisans wowed me with their cards and color combos.  This one is based off of numerous cards and combos I've seen!  The colors are just so vibrant and I think the sentiment is cute!

I stamped my water on watercolor paper and then used an aqua painter to spread the ink a little bit.  I then took my heat tool to it before I stamped anything else.  If it's not 100% dry, the ink from the other colors will run...ask me how I know this :-)

I also layered a bit of a doily plus some lemon lime punched with the new ribbon border punch!  Some washi tape over the sentiment finished it off!

I hope you like it!  And please, send me prayers and healing vibes!  I've got a follow up on the 6th and I'm anxious to see how it's healing and hoping it's healing fast and well!  I'd like to ditch the shoe and get back to kickboxing as soon as I can!  And wearing cute shoes (I have literally bought like 4 cute pairs in two weeks and I can't wear them now, sooooo sad right?)! :-)
