Hi stampers! Obviously we could all use a little sunshine with the events of Monday but we physically need some here in the Mid West too! It's rained/stormed so much since Monday night! Yeesh! So much for the ball games I was supposed to cover at work...and it looks like rain until Friday! Yikes! I guess I did get a little sun on my run yesterday...which went ok...I only ended up a sweaty mess not a sobbing mess. I actually ran pretty fast...I guess anger is a good motivator....and storm clouds, ha! I only made it back about 20 minutes before it started storming!
Anyway, in other good news I'm all registered for convention in SLC this July! I can't wait to see all my friends that live in my computer....you know....I could meet YOU if you sign up with the current special (and get a bunch more stuff free) and then come to convention! I have to say that you get so much more out of it that just some business training! It's inspiring in all aspects of your life and just plain fun! Let me know if you have any questions and you can check out more info HERE. I'd LOVE to see you in SLC!
So here's a simple card I made with the sunshine single stamp. I used the poetry prints DSP stack which I got free at regionals...oh yeah...there's another great reason to go to convention! FREEBIES!!!! :-)
Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps: sunshine
Paper: Very vanilla, crumb cake, midnight muse, poetry prints DSP stack
Ink: Midnight muse, summer starfruit
Accessories: In color dahlias, summer starfruit satin stitched ribbon, linen thread
I'm off to think about what fun goodies will show up in my display stamper stuff! And what the pre-order will be! Eek! That's just a week away now!
Oh and one other note if you're a fan of the Fab Friday site. The system we use for linking your projects up has been having some issues. I'm not really sure what the problem is but I'm hoping it's fixed soon. If you are having trouble linking up, I'm sorry! BUT it appears to be working so if you have trouble either switch browsers or wait a while and try again. Sorry I don't have better advice! And keep the entries coming!!!
Happy stamping!

Display Stamper Audition
...application...try out? Hi stampers! So Stampin' Up is looking for display stampers for future events! How fun! Of course I have to audition or apply or try out...what to call it? Hehe! This has been a good warm up for the Artisan contest of as well. We have to submit 3 cards, 2 3-D items and a scrap page....so here are my entries (warning...this is kind of long)!
This little box was inspired by the one in the catalog but I wanted to take it a little further. So, I used the yummy pool party embossing powder to dress up the bottom of the box a little (I can't tell you how much I love that stuff). I also jazzed up the flower a bit by poking the brad through not only the pool party flower but one of the little flower trim flowers as well. I think it's so cute! I also added a little ribbon leaf. It's such a cute little box and really didn't take 5 minutes to put together even with the embossing with a little help from my SAMJ!
For my second 3-D item I have another flower item but it's spring or at least it's supposed to be even if it doesn't feel it weather wise and spring means flowers! And flowers make me think of my momma so I made her a fabric brooch for Mother's Day. The more amore fabric was perfect because her favorite colors are red and blue. The silicone craft mat made this so easy to put together with a little hot glue!
Stampin' Supplies:
Accessories: More amore designer fabric, sycamore street ribbon & button pack (SAB), large basic pearls, gumball green stitched satin ribbon, fun flowers die
I'm kind of on a roll with the pop up posies kit! It's probably one of my favorite items in the mini catalog and maybe one of my top picks of all time! It's just so fun and cute and can be used in so many more ways than just some tags! So, I decided I'd try to use parts of it on most of my projects.
As soon as I saw the little "cupcake liner" flowers I immediately thought of one of my all time favorite flowers...the daffodil. So of course I had to make my own daffodil. It makes the perfect Easter card!
I love this next card and the bottle caps! They are so fun to smash in the big shot and then pop something fun into the middle! I also love the little pennant stamp from collage curios and thought it would work great with the patio party paper! My sentiment is actually from the bitty banners stamp set. I just carefully inked it as to not get the banner border which I didn't want.
Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps: Collage curios, itty bitty banners
Paper: Whisper white, baja breeze, midnight muse, summer starfruit, patio party DSP
Ink: Baja breeze, midnight muse, summer starfruit, primrose petals (markers)
Accessories: Soda pop tops, 1" circle punch, 1-3/4" scalloped circle punch, argyle embossing folder, primrose petals stitched satin ribbon, apothecary accents framelits, basic rhinestones
For my final card I wanted to do something more clean and simple...and of course use something else from the pop-up posies kit, ha! I found the oval famelits work PERFECT in the kraft colored labels!
Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps: Feel goods, Oh, hello
Paper: Whisper white, calypso coral
Ink: So saffron, calypso coral, island indigo
Accessories: Oval framelits, pop-up posies kit, vintage faceted designer buttons, linen thread
And finally we have my scrap page. I used the you are my sunshine single stamp since my photo was of my and my hubby at a beach on our honeymoon! The page is a BIT bright so I used a black and white photo as to not be TOO overwhelming:-) The Oh, whale stamp set added some nice little waves! I also added some glimmer paper to my sun rays and really liked the way it turned out! So sunny!
Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps: Sunshine (single stamp), Oh, whale
Paper: Whisper white, daffodil delight, pool party, island indigo, summer smooches DSP, floral district DSP. brights DSP stack, champaign glimmer paper
Ink: Daffodil delight, pool party, island indigo (ink and markers)
Accessories: labels collection framelits
Whew! Ok, I think that's it! Thanks for sticking with me and wish me good luck:-)

In need of some sunshine!
I also tried a new technique for this card....the chalkboard technique! Chalkboards are ALL the rage right now so I had to hop on the wagon and this stamp works great for it!
Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps: Sunshine (single stamp)
Paper: Basic black, pool party, polka dot parade DSP, brights and 2011-2013 in colors DSP stacks
Ink: Craft whisper white
Accessories: Pennant builder punch, pool party baker's twine, subtles glimmer brads (retired), white embossing powder
It's actually really easy and I think it looks so cool! You simply take some basic black cardstock and emboss your image with white embossing powder. After it cools for a few minutes then you sponge the edges with white craft ink and then use a sponge to gently swipe a bit of the ink all over the cardstock to give it a look of chalk dust. So easy! And I have to say I really find the results stunning! Just remember to have a light hand with the sponging. You can always keep adding more but you can't take it off if you go too heavy!
Happy stamping!

You are my sunshine!
Hi stampers! In case you have forgotten, SU is releasing some single stamps every now and then and out of this last batch THIS one is my fave!
My maternal grandparents (and mom still does) used to sing this to me and each other all the time so it has great sentimental meaning to me! So, when I saw it, I had to have it!!! I've got another idea half in my head and half already on paper for this one but for now you'll have to settle for my first attempt with this stamp!
Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps: Sunshine (single stamp)
Paper: Whisper white, crumb cake, daffodil delight, pool party, island indigo, brights DSP stack
Ink: Daffodil delight, island indigo
Accessories: SAB ribbon & button pack, scallop squares duo die
I love the sunburst technique (is that what it's called...that's what I call it anyway, ha) and thought it would be perfect with this stamp of course! I sponged the edges of the rays. I like to do that and think it makes all the difference when making a card with this technique! It really sets it off!
If you want this stamp you only have until March 31st to get it though (and the other singles) so don't delay or you might miss it!!!
I think I'll send this one to my mom! She'll love the image itself of course but she'll love the blues too!
Happy stamping!
