This month's focus is the Lift Me Up bundle. I have to say, I have a special love for hot air balloons because my dad has always loved them. In fact, when I was little (it was way back when because my parents were still married!!!!) my dad got to take a ride in one and my mom and I followed along on the ground. I'll never forget how cool it was to see him up there and how happy HE was!
So, I did something a little different for me again. While this card isn't all that exciting on the outside, it has a little surprise on the inside. And while it may not be anything super fancy outside, it's pretty cute I think!
For the panels behind the balloon, I alternated watermelon wonder with calypso coral. You can see the contrast much better in person and a bit more in the next photograph.
And then look how fun the inside is! I'm calling this a mobile card because it's kind of like a mobile when you open it.
And let me just say that I'm not the worlds best photographer and this sucker was difficult to photograph with all the moment and shadows and GAH! At one point I was half in-half out our front door laying across the threshold to try to get some good light, lol!
I created the mobile by using a couple of strips of cardstock and then sandwiched some of our metallic thread in between. There's about a million ways to do this. I searched on google and pinterest and kind of used a combination of ideas I saw. I suggest doing the same if you want to recreate it and pick whatever works best for you.
I stamped each balloon twice and then used liquid glue and glue dots to firmly sandwich the ends of the thread in between them. I masked the sentiment on the front of the card and then masked the remaining happy birthday for the inside as you see here.
I hope you enjoyed this card and maybe feel inspired to try one!
Now it's time to hop on over to Miriam's blog.
You're going to LOVE her project!
Happy stamping!

ReplyDeletea clever idea Mindy for your card! xoxo
ReplyDeleteAs I have a baby shower to go to next month, I will be making this card. I already know it's a boy, so that makes the colors easier for me to know what I want. I wanted to make a mobile as well. I just wanted to know the measurements for your card? Thank you so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteSooooo...here's the deal...I didn't write them down when I did it and I TRIED to make a tutorial but kept cutting and scoring wrong so I got mad and threw things, lol! It's just a regular A2 card so 4.25 x 5.5 inches. I'm not able to get down to my room to play with it over the next few days but I'll try to get back to you!
DeleteOk, sorry it's taken so long. We were in Tulsa and I was sick. I cut the two strips at the top 1/2" by just slightly under 4.25" each (so they wouldn't bunch up in the middle too much). For the mobile part, I cut two strips 1/2" x 8" and scored at 2, 4, and 6". I'll try to do a post about it if I get a chance. Hope that helps. Feel free to comment or email me if it doesn't!
DeleteDude, I love the inside of this card, lol. Totally trying this!
