Bad Blogger and More Bats!

Hi stampers!  I'm a bad blogger again!  I shoot for consistency but man, sometimes it just doesn't happen!  I have things to share, I just can't get my act together and post them, lol!   But sometimes a little blogging break is nice so maybe I'll be refreshed now ;-)

I can't believe that September is almost coming to a close and I only have a month left for Halloween crafting!  I better get busy!  I whipped this one up based off a sketch I had pinned a while back.

I'm kind of in love with this color combo!  Mango, Grape, and Black are fabulous together!  The card was a little flat with all the black so I used my Burlap Stamp to emboss the bottom portion in clear.  It really added some nice texture!

Mailable Monday - Superhero Edition

Hi stampers!  Happy Monday!  I don't know about your house, but around here, we are ALL about the superheroes!  I may have tried to be a good mom and buy Ian some superhero t-shirts (Carter's sells licensed characters now, FYI) and now it's ALL he wants to wear!  If I dare bring him one of his other shirts, he's super offended :-)  Tomorrow is school picture day so I'm crossing my fingers he will wear a nice shirt and not want to be Batman, lol!  It's funny because he's never really cared much about what he wears but he sure does now!

Anyway, I passed on all of the Halloween items in the holiday catalog in August, if you remember.  But then I saw some cards with the Spooky Sweets Bundle and these adorable bats and I realized I needed it.  I also realized when it came that it would make the perfect Batman card and it came RIGHT at the height of the Batman obsession.

It's pretty simple but I'm excited to play around and make some more SUPER cards!  Even dad may have come in my office the other day and asked to play with this one ;-)  I made my sentiment my piecing together the "you are" from Thoughtful Banners and then used Labeler Alphabet.  Don't be afraid to mix and match with sentiments, that's totally in right now and I think it's a fun look.

Fab Friday 146

Hi stampers!  Happy Friday!  I have not stamped much or blogged this week.  I've been in a FUNK physically and mentally this week!  But hopefully, since it's Friday, I'm out of it!  I did at least make this card for Fab Friday.  It's time for a new challenge and we have some PRETTY colors for you!

I know sometimes five color challenges can be hard but I really love these colors.  I want to show you the image that inspired them that I found on Pinterest, it's so pretty!

SEE!  Pretty!   And I had gemstones in mind when I made my card.  I was sad that we didn't have any gemstone stamps after the last catalog BUT we had some gemstone dies!  The Eclectic Layers Framelits have a couple of diamonds in them.

I cut one of each color and then went back with my embossing mat and the faceted gem and embossed them all.  I have a few videos of this on my youtube channel but my biggest tip is to use washi tape to secure them before embossing.  And put the die cutting face up....ask me how I know :-)

I made my own sentiment using stamps and die cuts.  I was able to stamp in black on the glimmer paper!

I also took sponge daubers (I found this worked better than sponges, I tried that first) and went around the edges and then lightly went over them to make them appear even more faceted.  I really love how they turned out!

I hope you enjoyed today's card and these colors and I hope you'll play along!  There are SO many things you can do with this combo!

Happy stamping!
