Thankful For SU

Hi stampers!  Happy hump day!  I'm slowly getting back to normal here, only to have the upcoming holiday throw a wrench in my routine yet again :-)  I cannot believe it's almost Thanksgiving!  It was JUST Halloween!

I'm always thankful when I can pair two products together unexpectedly, just like with this card!  The "give thanks" sentiment in Labels to Love fits just perfectly in the punch from the Christmas Traditions Punch Box.

This card may look complicated, but it was pretty easy.  A quick water color wash and then some splatters.  You can see I didn't let it fully dry before...I'm impatient like that ;-)  Then, I just layered everything up!

Some linen trim, a few sequins, some sparkle, and a button sealed the deal!  I just love these colors together!

I'm also thankful for ALLLLL of the friends Stampin' Up has blessed me with!  I'm so happy I got to hug so many of them last week.

Happy stamping!

Painted Harvest Card - Stampin' Up Artisan Global Design Team Blog Hop

Hi stampers!  Welcome to another edition of the SU Artisan Design Team Blog Hop!  We're so happy to have you!  If you're new, we are a group of 20 demos from around the world who hop a couple of times a month to bring you fun ideas!  Feel free to use Google translate if some of the blogs aren't in your preferred language!

This month, our assignment was the Painted Harvest Stamp Set and coordinating Leaf Punch.  These are bundled together to purchase so you can save a pretty penny!  I have to say, this one wasn't immediately on my list but I'm so glad we got it because it's really beautiful!  Sunflowers seem to be a love it or hate it flower and I really love them.  One thing to note about this set is that it is kind of pixelated.

I've seen a few people think that theirs isn't stamping well but it's supposed have kind of a variegated and pixelated effect.  I've also seen a few people who don't care for that look.  I like it just fine, but I wanted to do something a bit different with it so I grabbed some watercolor paper and my spritzer full of water and after I stamped it, I spritzed it.  It gave it a softer appearance and I kind of love it!  I also inked my stamps up with a few different colors at a time with the good old rock and roll technique and with sponge daubers.  The first sunflower I stamped off once in crushed curry.  Experiment with lots of colors, that way you get a lot of blending, depth, and dimension!  You'll see that they didn't stamp quite perfect but that totally fits with the look I was going for!

After it was well and dry, I flicked some ink drops on with my cajun crazy marker and stamped the sentiment in early espresso.  Make sure you either wait until it's dry or you dry it with the low setting on your heat tool or those will bleed as well.  I also distressed the edges and sponged them with crumb cake.

For my accents, I piled a lot on in a little space.  I have a copper foil frame, some jute twine, metallic washi tape, crushed curry ribbon, linen twine bow, and some leaves from the leaf punch.  I stamped them with early espresso, punched them out and then sponged them a little.

My background is also distressed and sponged and was simply made with the Burlap Background Stamp.

I hope you enjoyed my card and I know that you'll enjoy what Miriam has for you in the Netherlands!  You can visit her by clicking the logo!

Thanks so much for joining us today!

Jewel Tones - Two Ways

Hi stampers!  So I've been struggling to stamp the past few weeks.  You may have noticed my lack of blog posts.  Nothing's really wrong, although I did have a trying week last week, I'm just not feeling super full of ideas.

So one day I put out a call on my FB page to give me some ideas or a challenge to stamp.  I got quite a few requests so here is one of them!  Someone mentioned incorporating jewel tones, which I LOVE!  I did some googling of jewel tones just to get started and I have to say, it gave me a lot of color combos to try in the future.

I made this card with the Painted Harvest set because fall just screams jewel tones, does it not?  And I used to LOVE thumbing through her seed catalogs looking at all of the flowers.  I always loved the sunflowers that weren't the typical yellow or orange so I made a purple one here.

I then realized I NEEDED to make a card with jewel tones and the You're Priceless set that I recently got.  I mean, it's got JEWELS in it ;-)  I embossed the gems on some watercolor paper using clear powder and colored them in.  I love how it turned out.  And more messy watercoloring!

I love how these are the same colors but two totally different looks!  Try some jewel tones on your cards!

P.S. I'll update with a supply list when I get a chance ;-)

Happy stamping!

Scrapbook And Cards Today - Painted Harvest

Hi stampers!  So my fellow ADT member, Dani and I, teamed up for a special project on the Scrapbook & Cards Today Blog.  We had a lot of fun making our projects for this special post and were honored to be able to do it!

We focused on the Painted Harvest Stamp set and coordinating Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper.  Click on over to the SCT blog and check out what Dani and I did.  I'll show you my projects here BUT you really want to go over there because you can enter to win the set and DSP!  You can find all the details there.

Here's what I did.

I didn't use the DSP in a way that you normally think about it.  Instead of making it a background, I used the gorgeous and large images and cut them out.  They are so pretty!  And it's fun to use your DSP in a little bit of a different way!  You can find more pictures, details, and all my supplies on the SCT blog.

Happy stamping!
