No Tricks Just Treats

Hi stampers!  It's almost Halloween!  I figured I'd finally share my cute little Halloween class I had.  I wanted to do something easy for new stampers but cute at the same time. I settled on the matchbooks I've done before for Annie's gummy snacks because they were bats this year and we have the bat punch!

I had the hardest time getting these to photograph well.  Gorgeous grape doesn't seem to want to cooperate!  Anyway, here it is!

And you can see the candy here.  I simply staple one in.  I've made these before and posted all the measurements there so I'm not going to do a tutorial today.  Basically, you just have to measure your treats and go from there.  I cut them at 3" x 8.5" this time and scored according to the size of the package this year.  I leave one quarter inch for the fold over at top.

I think all of my class participants liked them!  They were also pleased to see the bat punch and the fact that it cuts out all three bats at once :-)  I did add one little extra, and had them sponge the moon for more definition.  It really made a difference and they all liked the depth it added.  I hope all their favorite boys and ghouls like their treats!

And if you're looking for a quick but cute treat, matchboxes are the way to go!

Happy stamping!

Ian's Valentine's

Hi stampers!  It's that time I suppose, to show you Ian's Valentine's (that at this point still aren't all made lol).  I'm sort of cheating because they are TOTALLY based off of the ones I made him last year which you can find here.  I have to say, I liked those better because I liked that little bunny better but I worked with what I had.

He loves Annie's Bunny Gummies so I picked another box of the Valentine ones up at Target.  They are smaller than the ones last year and I'm lazy so I still used my template from last year, lol!

I did use some retired DSP because it's all I had in real red that worked.  I stamped the rabbit from dark to light and used Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, and Sahara Sand.  My greeting is pieced together from one of the sentiments in the set, the Alphabet Labler Stamp, and I used the Saleabration dies for the you!  Don't forget you can get those FREE with an order of $100 before the end of March.  I made my bow from the Shimmer Ribbon Pack that you can get free with a $50 order.  It's super cute as well!

Here is the inside.  It's small but it still works.   I'm just going to write Ian's name on the package.  We aren't supposed to personally address each one so less work for me ;-)  Sorry about the shadow in this photo.  Whoops!

So to make these, I just took a 3" x 10" strip of Real Red and scored it at 4.24", 4.5", and 9".

This year, we have a nifty little die that can make the closure!   The Lots To Love Box Framelits Dies has those little wonky dies.  They actually make a little place on the box to insert your finger and open it but they work just great for a matchbook cover too!

Simply place the die about a quarter of an inch up from the score line on what will be the bottom flap of the matchbook.

And that was it.  Pretty easy!  Now....will I get them all made?  I probably will on Wednesday since I have until Thursday hahaha!  And I'm totally excited for Valentine's with Ian.  We were talking about it the other day and I said it was about love and asked him who he loved.  His reply was, "everyone....and God".  He's so cute...most of the time ;-)  And he wants some balloons and is SO excited about them ;-)

Happy stamping!

Trick Or Treat

Hi stampers!  I am feeling way overwhelmed over here!!!!  After a visit at my mom's and then her coming here Onstage and other things are coming up wicked fast!  HOW is October almost over?  I have a million things to do and not enough time!

I didn't get much done over the weekend with a Halloween party and then Trunk Or Treating at our church...oh and the terrible sinus headache that made me a slug most of Sunday.  But, Trick Or Trunk was fun and I'll try to get a lot of work done this week!

I was planning to make these for Ian's preschool but I'm not sure they'll get done by tomorrow.  Something's gotta give!  Maybe I can send his teacher the cute one and just put the rest in a bag, LOL!!!!

Anyway, I found these Annie's bats and thought they'd be perfect for a halloween treat.  I did much the same think with some bunny gummies for his class in Illinois for Valentine's day.  You can find those here.

I don't remember the measurements off the top of my head but basically I just measured the pouch and went from there.  It's pretty easy.  These were a little bigger than the regular fruit snack pouches they have.  And I used our retired stapler but you can use any stapler to make the matchbook flap.

If you run out to buy these at Target, make sure to check the cartwheel app. They were on sale last I checked!

Off to work my hiney off ;-)

Happy stamping!

Flashback Friday

Hi stampers!  Ok, so I totally dropped the ball on sharing Ian's little Valentine treats for school.  Probably because I was making them up to the last minute lol!  Then I was going to shoot a video for them but I messed it up of course.  So, no video but I took a few more photos so hopefully they will suffice.

I am pretty proud of actually coming up with my own little idea for these...you guys know I don't do many 3D items and that I'm usually too lazy to come up with templates on my own, lol! ;-)  Ian loves these Annie's fruit snacks and I love the little bunny from the basket bunch set, so that's how I came up with my idea.  If he'd needed more than 10 of these I would have lost my mind though, lol!

My bunny is embossed and then colored in on watercolor paper.  I used a little bit of blushing bride on his cheeks too, to make them rosy.  And you may notice that some of my sentiments in the first photo aren't as crisp...that's because I totally cheated and photocopied them on our cardstock.  I mean, did 10 two year olds care?  No, they probably just ripped them open immediately lol!  And while I love that labeler set, stamping all of them just wasn't happening!  So that's a little hack if you don't really care if they are "perfect".  Your copier/printer is your friend!

They are basically a matchbook and I just measured one of the packages to get my dimensions.  If you use a different type of fruit snacks, you'll have to measure to adjust.  And I feel I should mention that somehow, after I made my prototype, I cut and scored ALL TEN WRONG and had to start over.  UGH!   I used our mini stapler because I have it (and I'm super sad it's gone) but you could easily use any desk stapler.

I used some WW here so you can see my measurements.

To make my closure flap, I used one of the smaller circles in the layering framelits.  You want to place it about 2/3 of the way above the score line and then only partially run it through the big shot.  You'll probably have to play around with it to get it right.  I found that once mine just disappeared, I was good and I could back it out.

You don't want to cut to or past that score line, but just above it (you can however make it work if you mess it up...just staple it like normal and it will work but just not look as cute...you know I did this at least once).  It should end up looking like this.  And if you didn't cut as much as you need to, you can line it back up and try again, the die should stick down into the groove that you cut if you just gently run it over the area.

I hope that all made sense!  And sorry it's taken me so long to share these!  They would also make really cute Easter treats though!

Happy stamping!
