Fab Friday 132

Hi stampers!  I'm still not back into the swing of things after being gone!  I've had a doctor's appointment, Ian had the dentist, mom took me birthday shopping where I found NADA (dang it) and  then Ian started soccer with less than 24 hours notice so we spend most of the day tracking down toddler soccer gear.  Whew!  Maybe I can stamp and blog tomorrow...maybe...

Anyway, at least I have something to share for Fab Friday!  It's a color challenge this time around!

And here's what I came up with!

This is one of the SAB options and it's pretty cool.  It's called a "distinktive" stamp and it's kind of a photo real kind of stamp.  To me, they look a bit like sepia toned photos so that's the idea behind my card.  I stamped it in Soft Suede and then embossed quickly with clear powder.  I used sponge daubers to add my ink and then fussy cut it out.  I came back with more ink around the edges to soften it up.  Don't forget you can grab this one FREE with a $50 order JUST until the end of the month.

Speaking of which, how can it be March now?  February flew by!  Now, fly on over to the Fab Friday blog and check out all of the team's creations and then play along!  We'd love to have you!

Lots of Lavender

Hi stampers!  I called January the Monday of months yesterday and I still stand by that statement.  Monday was also very Monday-ey.  I managed to strain my left hamstring something AWFUL in kick boxing class.  I haven't done that in a couple of years and I got it worse than I ever have.  OUCH!  You'd THINK I'd be able to stamp since I need to rest it but sitting at my desk chair with a 90 degree bend in my knee is horrendous!  I'm posting this on Monday night and hopeful that by the time you read this on Tuesday and I slept on it, it will magically be better, lol!  Have you noticed a theme with me?  That maybe I'm accident prone???  Sigh.

Anyway, at least I have a pretty card to share.  I used the SAB set, Lots of Lavender, which you can get totally FREE with a $50 order!  It's so pretty!

It's made to be a two step stamp so that you can actually stamp the outline and then use another stamp to fill in with color but I only used the outline here and watercolored it myself.  And I used plum and eggplant which I NEVER use.  Who am I?????  But they combine to make some pretty lavender!

I paired it with some Wood Textures DSP and the Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder for a rustic look.  I also pulled in a sentiment from Hanging Garden because, well, the sentiments sold me on that set!

Here's to hoping I can get back to the gym today...or at least sit at my chair ;-)

Fab Friday 128

Hi stampers!  Happy Friday!  It sure doesn't feel like Friday here!  Jon was off for a few days and Ian didn't have school on Tuesday so I'm all sorts of screwed up!  At least I have Fab Friday to keep me sort of on track ;-)  We're back for 2018 with all new challenges and we're starting the year off with a BRIGHT color challenge!

I incorporated a lot of white space since the colors are so bold!

I did something a little different on my watercolor wash.  I usually wait until my watercolor is totally dry before splattering with my markers, but I didn't wait quite as long so my splatters spread but just a little because it was only damp instead of soaking wet.  Don't be afraid to play around with different levels of dryness in watercolor techniques!  And my pop of emerald is small but I love it!  I forget about these glitter shapes but they are so cute!

I also incorporated a holiday carry over die set to show how a holiday item can always be used on a non-holiday card!  My little swirls are from the Swirly Snowflakes Thinlits.  Speaking of thinlits, how do you like that big sentiment?  It's a die set!  A FREE die set in the SAB catalog!  This is a new feature this year where they have $50 options and $100 options, the die set is one of the 2nd level options and it's so cute!  It also coordinates with the Amazing You SAB set, so if you spend $150 you can get both of them for free!

Make sure to check out what the rest of the DT did and play along with us!  We'd love to see what you create!
