Bright Valentine

Hi stampers!  How can January go so slow and then this month go so fast?  Seriously, January lasted for-ev-er and this month is flying by!  I can't belelive V-day is next week, I need to get cracking on more Valentine's, including 13 or so for Ian's class!  Yikes!

And I've been meaning to stamp and blog but it's just not been happening.  I'm not quite sure WHAT I've been doing...that ever happen to you?  LOL!  I DID get a hydrafacial yesterday which was kind of amazing!  It was my early birthday present to myself, lol!  My skin has not been looking good the past month or so.  It looks great and feels amazing now.  I'd love to get them regularly but I'd probably rather buy more stamps instead ;-)  I did get some ridiculously expensive Vitamin C serum (wasn't aware that it was quite that pricey but I really liked it and she said it will help me so....) too.  Now I need a new moisturizer.  They changed the one I've used for 20+ years.  Don't you HATE that????  Anyway, onto the stamping!

I did make this at the tail end of Ian's nap the other day.  I just can't get enough of the color combo of melon mambo, lemon lime twist, and tranquil tide!  I used sponge daubers to ink up the stamp.  I stamped the background hearts by stamping off once.   You may have to enlarge the picture to see them, they are really faint, which I like!  They didn't photograph well.  The pink heart was stamped and then I used a blender pen to pull the ink into the little circles and fill them in.  It looked too stark "naked" ;-)  And the final touch was a few of the new gold chunky glitter flakes.  A drop with the fine tip glue pen works well to adhere them.

Kitchen Sink Valentine

Hi stampers!  Happy Monday!  I'm hoping this week starts out better than last week with me pulling my hamstring!  I wasn't able to sit at my desk much last week but it's finally feeling better and I was able to lightly kickbox on Friday!  So, here's hoping I can stamp and workout this week!

Before I injured myself, I had made this card and totally forgot about it!  It's pretty busy but I kind of love it!  Valentine's Day will be here before you know it (even IF January does seem to drag on FOR-EV-ER...does it not? I feel like it's been January for 97 days already and no end in sight but anyway...)!

So, this isn't a typical background for me, the lazy stamper!  Why?  Because it's took ages to dry lol!  I started with a watercolor wash in calypso coral and then let it mostly dry.  When it was just a little bit damp (because I'm impatient) I flicked on some melon mambo ink from my marker.  I might have flicked pool party on it too, but since it took so long I can't really remember, LOL!!!!!  Once it was totally dry, I stamped the hearts in powder pink and used an aquapianter with bermuda bay to drop some big splatters on.  For that, I just dipped it into my ink and then squeezed a lot of water out and let the drops fall while moving it all around.  Then I sat it to dry.

Once it was dry I just loaded it up with everything I could put my hands on ;-)  The Heart Happiness stamp set is really cute and I love this simple polka dot heart.  I embossed it in white on melon mambo which is a color I haven't used much so I'm trying to change that!

Hope you like my kitchen sink card because it's has about everything on it but the kitchen sink!

Vibrant Valentine

Hi stampers!  It's a new week and January seems to be dragging by!  I saw a meme the other day that said it's the Monday of months.  It's totally true!  January always seems so cold and long!  I'd love to go back home for a visit since I haven't been since Thanksgiving but we've got a number of things going on and I have a wedding next month so I'm not trying to drive 16 hours round trip two times in a row.  Sigh.  At least maybe this vibrant card can brighten things up around here!

I tried to resist the Heart Happiness set in the Occasions catalog but they did some really cute stuff with it in Salt Lake so I HAD to order it ;-)  I really love the heart I used on this card.  It looks fantastic embossed!  I colored the little rose (which actually fits within a heart framelit but I chose to fussy cut it) with my coral Blends.  And that Petal Passion DSP is AMAZING in black and white!  It's SO versatile and is perfect for Valentine's!

And hopefully "winter" won't seem as long here in Tulsa as it did in Chicago.  I'm looking at warmer temperatures, even for just a few days, later this week!

Is everyone else feeling like January is the new Monday?
