It's Finally Time

Hi stampers!  It's finally here!  New catalog day!  Ordering should be up no later than 12 noon, Mountain time!

Isn't it pretty?  It's full of such good stuff!  Unfortunately I don't have a lot of stuff to share at the moment.  I don't like to advertise when I'm away from home but we've been gone for over a week.  We met my parents in St. Louis for a little mini vacation while Jon was in China and then we came to their house and saw the other two sets of grandparents, too.  Jon's back home but we aren't going until Saturday and then I have jury duty the first week of June and VBS the second so stamp time is going to be sparse! :(  I tried to get projects done to share this week and fell a little short.  Whoops!  No way I was going to amass enough for the next two weeks!

Anyway, I have a project today that I thought didn't have any retired items on it, but I just realized it did.  Oh well :-)

The doilies are retired now (sad) but everything else is current!  I mixed a few carry over items with some new colors and they happen to be the same purples from yesterday.  To say that I love them might be an understatement.  My flowers were made by stamping the outlines full strength and then the inner part stamped off once.

Make sure to check out the new catalog and grab some fun new colors and items!

And wish me luck over the next two weeks, lol!  I'm SO not use to getting up and ready and somewhere early in the morning as a SAHM!  Oh and pray for granny...she's a bit worried for herself as doesn't stop all day long now, ha!

Mermaid Monday

Hi stampers!  Happy Monday, the start of a new week.  It's kind of a wacky one here, we just have a few things going on out of the norm and I kind of hate that.  I'm not sure if I'll get much time in the stamp studio, but we shall see.  I did clean a bit and reorganize my inks and papers over the weekend...instead of actually stamping...sigh.  But it feels good to have that done and I'm slowly and I mean SLOWLY getting used to the color changes.  I can't wait to fill the holes in my ink pad storage with our new colors!

Speaking of colors, I was SO, so happy to see Coastal Cabana and Mint Macaron returning!  I immediately thought they would look great on a mermaid card and I wasn't wrong!  I still kind of can't believe this adorable set isn't going to be in the new catalog. So, if you want it, better grab it!

I watercolored my mermaid with both Coastal Cabana and Mint Macaron.  Her scales have a little Wink Of Stella for sparkle.  The background is also those two colors.  I took my silicon sheet and scribbled on it in various places with the markers then spritzed it and squished my paper on it.  Once it was dry, I took an aqua painter and added some drops with Coastal Cabana.  I also stamped a few bubbles form the stamp set.

Those Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate Sheets are also retiring and this print is perfect for mermaid cards!  A few well placed gold flakes completed my card!  I hope you like her!

Similar Sets

Hi stampers!  I'm late at posting again.  I should have had time to prep this post yesterday with being stuck at home all day with a receiving Ian, but I didn't.  And by the time I wrangled him into bed (in my room...he may never sleep in his own room again, sigh), I was too lazy to do anything at all.  Jon's been in Dallas so I was flying solo.  He is feeling better though for sure, he was a NUT last night at bath and bed time lol!

Anyway, hopefully life will get back to normal today!  I have had this background on my desk for WEEKS and just couldn't do anything with it.  I based it off of a card in the Occasions Catalog.  But, instead of using the Perennial Birthday Stamp Set for the flowers (I did use it for that large sentiment), I used Happy Birthday Gorgeous!  I had Perennial Birthday for display stamper and as soon as I got it, I thought it looked really similar to HBG.  I think they work really well together and I was happy to see both back in the new Annual Catalog!

I've used this color combo to death, I know.  But it works!

Rainbow Cake

Hi stampers!  I'm back with more cakes today!  And speaking of cake, I NEED to get everything together to make cupcakes this weekend for Ian.  He turns THREE on Saturday!!!!  I suppose I should work on making him a card too;-)

Anyway, I don't know that I can make a real rainbow cake (I'm not much of a baker...I at least think I can handle the Moana cupcakes he wants...I hope lol) but I made a pretty cute one out of paper!  I've had this idea for a while but finally sat down to make it this past weekend.

Don't mind the two little spots of ink.  There was a splattering incident before I took my photos. Whoops!  Anyway, I used a variety of ink pads to make my icing colors.  I let them dry before doing the next one.  I may try another and let them bleed together more to see how that looks too.  Edited to add:  I've had a lot of questions about the cake.  It's very simple which is why I didn't give a big explanation.  It's simply the die cut (and I cut out two, one from watercolor paper and one from silver foil and cut and pasted so that the cake stand is silver) and watercolored.  I used an aqua painter and all the colors listed below.  Make one stripe and that's it.  Also, I did not use the coordinating stamp set which is why it's not listed below.  I used happy birthday gorgeous for the sentiment.  I hope that helps.

Also, don't forget that customers can get their hands on the Carols of Christmas set and card front builder thinlit dies starting TODAY!

And now I want some cake!
